The 1948 and the 1980 were the first of many limited-edition eyewear expressions to emerge from our inaugural engagement with the works of Stanley Kubrick, serving as a celebration of the life and creative output of one of the most brilliant, influential, and original filmmakers in cinematic history. Over the course of his career, Mr. Kubrick displayed a dynamic dedication to research and craft that shaped his films into timeless explorations of humor, hubris, horror, and hope. This unique collection of eyewear is an homage to the legacy of cinema’s obsessive genius, a sartorial tribute to the unflinching vision and aesthetic ingenuity that solidified him as an auteur for the ages.
Serious and sleek, these limited-edition spectacles are directly inspired by the aviators Mr. Kubrick wore while on the set of The Shining (1980) and Full Metal Jacket (1987), two films defined by dark narratives and a heightened visual language that exemplified the director’s technical virtuosity and dynamic style.
