At 45 years of age, Yukio Mishima left behind a haze of questions that would remain for decades, as well as 34 novels, nearly 50 plays, and numerous collections of short stories and essays produced over two prolific decades. Nominated three times for the Nobel Prize, Mishima’s works remain lyrical stories of Japanese tradition, identity, and modernity, told with bold detail and sensuous vocabulary.
